Functional Capacity Assessments
Sometimes government and non-government organisations require functional capacity assessments (FCA) to determine how best to assist people who require their services. This may be to gain a package from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), for a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) package review to gain appropriate funding or to apply for a Disability Support Pension (DSP) through CentreLink.
OT4Change are highly experienced in working with NDIS participants and their support teams. FCAs are conducted in your home to enable the occupational therapist to assess how you function in your own, familiar environment.
The process includes gaining background information from you, carers, service providers and other therapists or doctors involved in your treatment; conducting cognitive assessments; and assessing your ability to complete two activities of daily living (ADL).
ADLs can be chosen from cleaning, cooking, shopping, laundry, and appropriate self-care tasks. OT4Change will then complete a report with recommendations to be provided to the appropriate organisation.
